Support Oakmont Business District Improvments

For more than five years the Haverford Township Civic Council and our Action Group, "The Citizens Task Force for Commercial Revitalization" have been working to improve the business districts of our Township.

Two years ago The Citizens Task Force for Commercial Revitalization became the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development.
The HPED is a partnership of residents, businesses and government working toward the same goal of improving our community.

The Haverford Township Civic Council and HPED need your help to convince the Board of Commissioners that a much needed renovation of the Oakmont parking lot, street lighting and sidewalks should be approved at the next regular meeting on
April 9, 2012.
The Commissioner's work session is this Monday night, April 2 at 7pm in the Quatrani Building. The HPED is first on the agenda to present the plan for the Oakmont Business District improvements.

Please consider coming to the meeting to help support the HPED.
Some facts:

  • This area is the gateway to the Eagle Road Corridor Business District.
  • The Planning Commission has already approved the improvements needed.
  • These improvements have been on the Comprehensive Plan for more than 20 years.
  • The same type of improvements have revitalized the Brookline Boulevard Business District.
  • Similar improvements have recently been completed at Manoa Rd and West Chester Pike.
  • The US Open, coming to Haverford in 2013, will bring thousand of visitors to Oakmont.
  • Oakmont is the site of the Haverford Music Festival on September 15, 2012 with an estimated 10,000 music lovers.
  • New trees, street lighting and brick-lined sidewalks will help business thrive all year round..

What you can do:

Please  email or call   your Commissioner  before  the Monday, April 2  Work Session and ask for their support for these improvements!
