Step into history with us...
Join us for one of Haverford Township's favorite community events as the Historical Society celebrates the rich, cultural heritage and local history of our area. In the beautiful and historic setting of Karakung Drive along Cobbs Creek, the Heritage Festival brings together people from all over the Township.
This year's event will feature:
· Historical re-enactors and demonstrations with tours of Nitre Hall and Lawrence Cabin;
· Live music all day with performances by the Penn View Brass Band, the Unskunkables, the Bloody Catholics, the Newtown Squares, 7th Heaven, the HHS Chorale, the HHS Marching Band Drum Line, DGD, the Havertones and HMS students Laura Winters, LJ Troilo, Issy Swantak and Sophia Ryan;
· Performances of Irish dancing, belly dancing and Colonial dancing as well as antique cars, model trains, demonstrations of vintage baseball and Colonial beer brewing;
· Food from local favorites jd mcgillicuddy's and Brookline Pizza as well as Centrella's Deli, Cupcakeology, local Boy Scout troops and Bruster's Ice Cream;
· Beer tent featuring brews from Victory Brewing Co. and Sly Fox Brewing Co.;
· Juried photography exhibition featuring photos taken in Haverford Township - "Capturing a Sense of Place";
· Local non-profits on hand to share information and network;
· Local artisans and crafters;
· Pony rides, a scavenger hunt and children's activities;
· And much, much more!
The Heritage Festival takes place on Karakung Drive between Lakeside Drive and Manoa Road. Parking is available at either end of the festival along the road. We encourage visitors to walk or ride bikes. A bike parking area will be available near Nitre Hall at the festival. The festival will be held rain or shine.
