RE: Billboards
Thursday, November 4th; 7:30 pm
Haverford Township Building
Darby Road, Havertown
EVERY VOICE COUNTS
Hearty attendance at the hearings is necessary to display our UNITED opposition to these proposed billboards and to show our Commissioners that we support this fight. How do the Commissioners know you still care about this if you don't come to the hearings? How do our State elected officials know this is something that is important if you do not tell them, REPEATEDLY?
The Outdoor Advertising Industry $banks$ on our short memories and busy lives. Please make it a priority to attend these hearings
and express your opinion.
Shy about public speaking? You will only be supported by your fellow residents.
*************PLEASE KEEP READING! More information to follow!*************
Here's an article from the last Zoning Board Hearing in Haverford:
http://www.delcotimes.com/articles/2010/09/28/news/doc4ca15ee2864b1926636380.txt
Excerpt from the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Article 9, Section 908.3
3) The parties to the hearing shall be the municipality, any person affected (residents) by the application who has made timely appearance of record before the board (NOT TOO LATE - but Time is Short!), and any other person including civic or community organizations permitted to appear by the board. The board shall have power to require that all persons who wish to be considered parties enter appearances in writing on forms (email us, we got it!) provided by the board for that purpose.
Excerpt from the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Article 9, Section 908.5
5) The parties shall have the right to be represented by counsel (but do not have to be!) and shall be afforded the opportunity to respond and present evidence and argument and cross-examine adverse witnesses on all relevant issues (optional).
Will the billboard be visible from your property, your park, your church? Consider requesting "party" status. As a party, you will be included in any notice of appeals and/or settlements and should you choose to do so, allows you the opportunity to appeal court rulings.
