Job Opening at Oakmont Farmers Market!
Do you love your farmers market? Do you want to get more involved? Well, here is your chance, because we are hiring!
Job Announcment: On-site Oakmont Farmers Market weekly manager needed for the upscoming 2010 season
The Haverford Township Farmers' Market Association (HTFMA) is seeking to hire an onsite Market Manager to work as a team member with another Manager and the Board to oversee the Oakmont Farmers Market. This is a part-time job-sharing position. This position requires approximately 7 hours per week on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoons and the pay is $15 per hour. The Market season runs from May 19th until November 24th, 2010 and the job will be split between the two managers (to accomodate summer schedules, managers will decide in advance of the season which weeks they prefer to cover so that no-one misses any vacation!).
The Market Manager sets up and breaks down the market, oversees market activities during market hours and, with the assistance of the HTFMA Board, ensures the farmers market operates in compliance with state law, health codes and organizational rules. The Market Manager is the liaison of the Haverford Township Farmers Market Association to the vendors, customers and community at large on Market Day. The manager performs community outreach to promote the market and assists with in-market events and promotions.
The Market Manager is a team member who helps promote Oakmont Farmers Market goals by working closely with market vendors and board members to communicate ideas, provide feedback, identify potential problems, and offer creative solutions to further the goals to promote local agriculture and provide food and public health education to Haverford Township.
This position involves on-site management of the weekly market, set-up and clean-up, filling out required paperwork at market and submitting the market report details electronically each week, and attending a pre-season all-staff meeting and training session.
The Manager should be reliable, have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and be willing to work in a team environment.
To apply: Please send a resume and a cover letter explaining why you'd like to work at the market and why you think you'd be a good fit for the Association to oakmontfarmersmarket@gmail.com by Monday May 10th, 2010. Interviews will occur later that week and a decision will be made by May 19th. If you have any questions, please email us at oakmontfarmersmarket@gmail.com
